MAD Booking comments:
Pomona, California’s hardcore conquerors XIBALBA have officially signed a deal with Southern Lord Recordings, the label confirmed to release the band’s next three full-length murder anthems.
Following the initial vinyl release of XIBALBA’s Madre Mia Por Los Dias debut full-length early last year via A389 Records (Ringworm, Integrity, Pulling Teeth), Southern Lord released a limited CD pressing of the album, as part of its ongoing underground series. Madre Mia Por Los Dias stormed the hardcore world with its apocalyptic, down-tuned, slow-motion brutality, the band’s ultra-energizing buildups and relentlessly brutal breakdowns instantly drawing comparisons to Disembodied, Bloodlet, Earth Crisis and the heaviest of the late ’90s/early 2000s hardcore scene as well as kings of low-end, groove-laden death metal like Obituary and Sepultura.
The follow-up to Madre Mia Por Los Dias will be recorded in the early months of 2012 and released in the Spring. Little else is confirmed about the album other than the title, Hasta La Muerte, of course translating to “To The Death,” which in typical XIBALBA fashion, ensures a gathering of neck-crushing, mosh-inducing, all-out murderous angst.
