ENERGY (interviewed for IDIOTEQ in 2013) formed in February of 2006 in the town of Stoughton, Massachusetts. Over the last decade, the band’s signature style of somber, melancholy melodies and introspective lyrics combined with infectiously poppy hooks has truly cemented them as one of Boston’s most unique bands. The band were unveiled as special guests on the CREEPER headline tour by That’s Not Metal Podcast on December 23rd and will be hitting Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, London, Southampton, Birmingham and Cardiff this spring. The dates will be in support of the 2017 UK release of new album, ‘Apparition Sound’.
‘Apparition Sound’ features 8 tracks of melodic punk rock, that are the full creations of frontman, T?NK. After becoming the sole songwriter for the band in 2012, frontman Jason Tankerley (aka T?NK) began writing songs for what would eventually make up the new album. Over the years, T?NK’s vocal delivery has been compared to the likes of Davey Havok, Michale Graves, and Zoli Teglas while adding his own vast array of vocal influences to Energy’s music. The record has been carefully crafted and built over a number of years, moving Energy in to a new chapter of their musical career.
“Apparition Sound” was recorded and produced by Chris Curran (Four Year Strong, PVRIS, A Loss For Words, It Lives It Breathes) at “Reclaim Studios” in Thompson, CT.
After independently releasing their 2006 E.P. “Punch The Clock”, the band immediately developed a cult following and signed with Boston’s own “Bridge 9 Records” to release their 2008 full-length album ‘Invasions Of The Mind’, as well as their 2010 E.P. ‘Walk Into The Fire’.

Speaking on ‘Apparition Sound’, T?NK said, “This album represents a rebirth within the band. It was the first time in the band’s history where I was left entirely in charge of songwriting. Music, melodies, lyrics, everything. Honestly, this was not something that I wanted at all, but since both of the other primary songwriters had left the band – I was on my own for the first time.
“It was terrifying, but I was determined to climb out of the hole I had been thrown into by releasing what I felt was Energy’s strongest work yet.”
