The immense instrumental offering by Vilnius post rock/metal painters AUTISM, sees the band exploring different timbres and moods that bring out the organic sonic subtleties and interesting arrangement twists. Exploring some of the darkest and most disburbing issues and struggles of everyday life, “Film Noir” uses deeply powerful rhythms of music language to paint its pictures. We are very pleased to premiere it in its entirety below.
“Film Noir” comes out on February 20th on 12”’ LP and will be supported on a European tour starting on May 26th and resolving on June 3rd . Joining them on the road will be Estonia’s OCEAN DISTRICTS and German/Lithuanian act NRCSSST.
Asked about the concept of the record, the band issued the following commentary:
This album, sharing the same name as a cinematic genre, is driven by a mood of pessimism and menace. While working on this album, we decided to explore even more disturbing and uncomfortable topics. Alcoholism, drugs, physical and psychological abuse, manipulation…it is all a part of our everyday life. We have used real samples of some actual tragic life events to create a greater emotional impact to the listener and make him aware. This is not a casual album to listen to, but we believe that “Film Noir” will succeed to deliver the message we wanted to communicate.
In 2013 AUTISM appeared as a one-man-band studio project thanks to a music enthusiast from Lithuania known as Tomhet. AUTISM released its first mini album “Falling Motions“ and a debut album “The Crawling Chaos” all within the same year since the project was launched. Later on Tomhet was joined by a bunch of other fellow musicians: Karolis (guitar), Gediminas (bass guitar) and Domantas (drums). And since April 2016 the project officially becomes a real gigging band.
“Film Noir” – is the first album of AUTISM as a live band where the musical tastes of four individuals intertwined. The end result of this mixture – seven dark and distinct tracks of instrumental post metal heaviness. Although the album does not lack similarities to a more typical post rock sound, AUTISM decided to choose the route of a darker music and bring in more atmosphere in their work. Conceptually the new album brings up uncomfortable social topics for the key reason – to move the listener, make him aware.
