NoEcho webzine just published a nice new feature about the new San Diego hardcore band GUT PUNCH, featuring members of Born Blind, No Innocent Victim, Take em’ Out, and Uprising A.D. The band’s recent EP I Won’t Lay Down is available for streaming below, and it’s a solid 4-tracker of many East Coast and West Coast hardcore influences that will be surely appreciated by fans of old-school hardcore. Even though I’m just a couple of hours away from San Diego, I hate to admit that I don’t get to shows there often. I ask Nate how the local hardcore scene has received Gut Punch so far. “For some of us, this has been the first band back playing hardcore in quite a while and it has been a really great time. Weโve had the chance to play with some great bands in the San Diego area and are looking to do some more out of town stuff. Jumped In is a newer San Diego band that we have been doing a lot with and I really dig Frontside, who unfortunately recently broke up. Point Break from Arizona is another great band weโve played with a few times and really like what they are doing.” / NoEcho
