Loop is the first EP by THE LEAF, a rock band from Milan channeling several influences into multi-faceted sounds. A freeing, visceral shout in which every choice is heartfelt but still conscious, never incidental. Four songs balancing indie and classic rock, folk punk and alt country that reveal only part of the project’s sound. Today, we’re stoked to give you an early listen below!
“Returning to ourselves, always renewed” by THE LEAF is out this Friday, October 15th via Non Ti Seguo Records.
For fans of: Nothing But Thieves, The Raconteurs, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Afghan Whigs
The EP is based upon the concept of duality: either it being up to simple doubt or to the fact that not anything is ethically evaluable. The ambiguity depends on the viewpoints of the parts (parallel paradises). Between melancholic introspection and a more positive, almost playful outlet, all lyrics show a certain dual nature, a monologue transfering into a dialogue between two sides of the same coin, looking for a longed ideal compromise.
The EP is part of a bigger picture in the works, an album called “Duplicity, Beings”:nine songs total, the four from Loop and five new tracks, spanning more genres and sounds. It will be printed in a limited physical edition on tape by the label Non Ti Seguo Records for their Tigersuit Tapes series.
The Leaf was born in 2019 from longtime friends who, after playing in several bands in Italy, finally got together in Milan. The resulting music is an urban based rock played with a wanderlust trait; the love for 90s melodies shapes a rough sound, aggressive yet comforting, alt – rock with no fear of contamination and risk. An ever changing composition out of necessity and earnestness.
Initially a power trio, the band lands its fully fledged lineup in 2020 with the entrance of Gloria, her R&B flair giving a fresh new shape to the songs.
The Leaf is Gloria Galeno (voice), Alessio Manni (guitars, voice), Luca Margherito (drums) and Riccardo Terrasi (bass).
