Post-hardcore / melodic hardcore band Spark of Life has announced their upcoming album Plagued By The Human Condition, set for release in early 2025 via New Age Records.

The albumโ€™s lead single, โ€œNo One Hates Me More Than Me,โ€ is now available to stream, accompanied by a music video. Known for their introspective lyrics and dynamic post-hardcore sound, the band aims to expand on themes of loss, regret, and resilience in this new release.

The new track maintains Spark of Lifeโ€™s signature sound with heavy guitars, melodic breakdowns, and mid-โ€™90s Bay Area hardcore influences.

Singer Steve Jennings describes the single as reflective of the albumโ€™s tone, stating, โ€œItโ€™s about loss, regret, and the pain it causes, but also about finding hope and moving forward.โ€

The band, which formed in Los Angeles nearly 25 years ago, built a reputation for blending melodic and hardcore elements. Their 2003 debut, Promises Made Promises Kept, produced by Russ Rankin of Good Riddance, established them as a distinctive voice in the hardcore scene.

After years of inactivity, Spark of Life reunited in 2018, rekindling their creative partnership and releasing two EPs in recent years, including 2023โ€™s Song of Hope.

The new album was recorded at Cherokee Studios, with tracks showcasing expanded sonic influences and collaborations, including Fred Armisen on drums for a cover of That Dogโ€™s โ€œNever Say Never.โ€ Plagued By The Human Condition is described as both musically and emotionally transformative, reflecting the bandโ€™s evolution over two decades.
