Japanese post metal creators ENVY encapsulate their signature aesthetic in new epic single “Seimei”

October 12, 2022
1 min read

ENVY will be heading for their first European tour in 3 years, and to celebrate, the band just released their new track called “Seimei”. The new epic comes from their new digital single EP that will include 3 new tracks, to be unleashed on November 9th.

Comments the band:

This release is an output of what we feel from the world of today and what we recorded and what we will tour.

Seimei contains 3 songs: “Seimei”, “Zanshin” and “Yamayura” It is a title that entrusts the word “Seimei” to the usual way of life that awaits us, finding a small hope in the dark passage of time.

Recording and mixing for Seimei was handled by Takaaki Mino – of the Japanese band, toe – creating a natural yet intense sound. The artwork is by Cris Crude – of beloved American screamo band, pg.99 – who also made the art for envy’s “Alnair In August” single (2018).

ENVY

For over 28 years ENVY from Japan have been crafting soaring compositions with captivating melodies that owe as much to Explosions in the Sky and Mogwai as they do to Bad Brains and Cro-Mags. Their upcoming EP continues to display a masterful control of tension and release in chords and melodies behind the steady spoken-word Japanese of singer Tetsuya. Seimei marries tear-inducing melodies with gut-wrenching grooves to create a soul journey.
