Terminal Dissonance: DYSTOPIATE teasing their brutal debut

1 min read

DYSTOPIATE, a band born from the mind of Cody Maillet, who previously operated under the moniker Cryostasium, is set to release their debut studio album, Terminal Dissonance, on September 13th, 2024.

The project, which merges the ferocity of d-beat hardcore with the dark intensity of thrash, psych, and black metal, has been in the works since 2019 when Cody first began experimenting with these genres in his solo work.

Over time, the band expanded to include Tom Preziosi (guitar), Andrew Martin (guitar), and Mitch Fletcher (drums), with each member bringing their own unique touch to Cody’s compositions.

Despite facing setbacks, such as Mitch’s departure in February 2024, DYSTOPIATE remained steadfast, enlisting Jeff Beckwith from local bands Hirudinea and Fresh Kill to record drums for the album at Witch House Studio in Groton, MA. The resulting work is a brutal collection of tracks that operated withing the filthy boundaries of d-beat and other amalgams of metal and hardcore.

The new track “Automaton,” encapsulates the album’s theme of control and subjugation, depicting a dictator’s manipulation and the subsequent loss of individuality. The band describes it as “a song of warning,” serving as a powerful message within the chaotic noise they create.

DYSTOPIATE’s debut will be released by Fish Prints, Inc., with a listening party scheduled for September 12th, 2024.

The album is currently available for preorder on CD (limited to 100 copies) and digitally on Fish Prints’ Bandcamp page. Two other tracks are available for streaming.

DYSTOPIATE are already working on new material for their next studio album.
