CONVERGE Turns a Live Performance into a Lifeline for Hurricane Relief

1 min read

In the volatile aftermath of Hurricane Helene, some acts of kindness go beyond what’s expected, aiming not just for solidarity but for real, tangible impact. Converge, the legendary Massachusetts-based hardcore band, have released Live in Orlando, FL 03.14.22, an 18-track live album recorded during their performance at The Abbey in Orlando.

Unlike typical live releases, this one serves a higher purpose: all proceeds will be donated to Mutual Aid Disaster Relief, supporting communities devastated by the hurricane that recently ravaged the southeastern United States.

The album, recorded by Zach Rippy and mixed by longtime Converge guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou, captures the raw intensity and relentless energy of the band’s ferocious live shows. Featuring tracks like “Dark Horse,” “Aimless Arrow,” and “Concubine,” the setlist spans Converge’s decades-long career, including both fan favorites and deeper cuts from their earlier days, such as “Locust Reign” and “This Is Mine.” (see the full setlist below).

The hurricane, which has already claimed over 220 lives, has left entire regions in ruins. Asheville, North Carolina—known for its vibrant River Arts District—was particularly hard hit, with storms and mudslides wiping out parts of the city. Local artists and musicians, including those connected to the band, have found themselves displaced or without basic resources, making efforts like this more urgent than ever.

This release not only bridges the connection between music and community but stands as a reminder of how the underground scene consistently rallies for causes larger than itself. Converge, through the ferocity of their music, continues to find ways to give back in times of dire need.

The digital album is available on Bandcamp, and for those craving a physical copy, a vinyl version is on the horizon—though it might take some patience, as the demand has put it on a waitlist.
