If we wrote about every band and single that we thought deserved attention, we’d probably never sleep. So, even though we’re a little late on this one, it’s still one of those tracks that just can’t be missed. Autumn Kids, the emotive hardcore band from Bamberg, Germany, have dropped their second singleThe Setting Sun”, a track that echoes the melodic and emotional hardcore of the early 2000s but with a sharper, more refined modern edge.

The Setting Sun” captures the fear of loss, the inevitable approach of death, and the painful process of letting go as time slips through our fingers. The lyrics, balancing introspection and acceptance, tell the story of someone coming to terms with the unavoidable reality of death, even while emotions and memories continue to linger. There’s a raw honesty here that feels deeply personal, and that’s no coincidence.

Frontman Davis reflects on the painful experiences of the past five years, where he lost his grandparents, faced his uncle’s serious accident, saw his father battle cancer, and tragically said goodbye to two friends who died from overdoses.

In his words: “I dedicate this song to my wife – knowing that we too will be separated at some point. It’s hard to bear the thought that we all ultimately have to walk this path alone, but the most precious thing I wish for is that she preserves and protects the memories of us. Because in the end, it is these moments, these memories, that will connect us forever – even if life separates us.”

The band began writing “The Setting Sun” in December 2023, during pre-production for their upcoming LP, which is set to drop in late 2024.

Working with longtime friend and producer Cristian Campadelli (Slow Down Riley), Autumn Kids have been able to refine their sound while staying true to their emotional core.

The full album is slated for an early 2025 release, with details to be announced soon.
