Chicago hardcore band SI DIOS QUIERE teasing “No Angels” on New Morality Zine

On the cold streets of Southside Chicago, SI DIOS QUIERE has been forging their own path in the hardcore scene, a sound born from the heat of their Mexican roots and the intensity of their hood. Formed in the shadow of a city that thrives on grit, they’ve been fighting their way through the noise since 2020, and now, after years of honing their thing, their first full-length album, No Angels, is finally set to explode on October 25th, 2024, via New Morality Zine.

No Angels is a raw reflection of the struggles faced by its members—Christian Guajardo and Ricardo Velazquez on guitar and drums, respectively, who started this journey together, along with Roberto Velazquez on guitar, Louie Flores on bass, and Ozzy Jimenez taking over vocals in 2022. Their brand of hardcore, a punchy blend of mosh-heavy rhythms and street-tough delivery, pulls from the likes of MADBALL and ROTTING OUT.

Today, they unleash the album’s title track, “No Angels,” a sonic storm that cuts deep, made even more fierce by the guest appearance of Andy Zarate from Dallas hardcore outfit SOLEDAD. The song hits with a force that’s both familiar and uniquely their own, layering thick metallic riffs with Jimenez’s uncompromising vocals, a reflection of personal battles we’re all too familiar with.

Comments Jimenez: “We’re all battling our own demons. We’re all internally dealing with our own battles and sometimes it can feel like you have no angels looking out for you. The loneliness one feels when facing these obstacles with no one to turn to. It can feel like you’re being punished for your own sins. So you have to break free and write your own destiny.”

In No Angels, that sentiment is etched into every track, from the blistering opener “Fool’s Gold” to the fierce closer “Un Día Más.” Recorded out in Chesterton, Indiana, by Collin St. Mary at 19 Stars NWI, the album’s production maintains an almost primal rawness, staying true to the band’s ethos—nothing too polished, just the unfiltered truth.

Tracks like “Essence of Survival,” featuring Karly Soto of SNUFFED, and the brutal “Streets of Vengeance,” with Carlos Jimenez from DEMO DIVISION, carry that same energy, the same relentless drive to push through whatever life throws your way.

SI DIOS QUIERE is hitting the road right after the album drops, bringing their fury to California stages in early November. They’ll be sharing the stage with fellow hardcore acts BARRIO SLAM and COLD VIEW, lighting up cities from Torrance to Long Beach with a string of shows that promises to leave the West Coast rattled.
