GREAT AMERICAN GHOST teasing 4th album “Tragedy of the Commons” with new single & music video

1 min read

GREAT AMERICAN GHOST has announced the release of their fourth album, Tragedy of the Commons, which will drop on January 31, 2025, through SharpTone Records. Known for their sharp, politically charged message, the band is continuing to use their music as a vehicle for commentary on societal issues.

Vocalist Ethan Harrison emphasizes that their new album is not just another politically-themed record, but rather a deeper exploration of societal hopelessness and exploitation. According to Harrison, Tragedy of the Commons deals with the concept of resource exploitation, where “one person will eventually exploit those resources and hurt the other person.” He draws a parallel between this idea and the economic struggles of ordinary citizens, who can’t afford basic necessities while governments fund wars around the globe.

The album is produced by Will Putney and combines hardcore influences with precise metallic sound and melodic moments.

Great American Ghost maintains their intense and unfiltered approach, delivering a message that challenges their audience while staying true to their aggressive style.

Singles like “Hymn of Decay” and “Forsaken” have already set the tone for the album, but the latest release, “Lost In The Outline,” takes this a step further with a track that pushes past four minutes.

Harrison’s vocals navigate between piercing screams and melodic clarity, creating an unsettling but cathartic experience.

The music video for “Lost In The Outline” follows a sci-fi aesthetic, complementing the song’s themes of entrapment and frustration.

Guitarist Grayson Stewart offers additional insight, stating that the song deals with the realization that people often lack control over their lives. “You’re moving forward in your perspective, but you’re never actually accomplishing anything,” he says, comparing it to the feeling of being stuck in a system where personal agency is an illusion.
