Whitechapel, a band synonymous with the deathcore scene since the inception of the genre, is back with their latest chapter, Hymns in Dissonance.
Known for their relentless evolution over the past decade, the Tennessee outfit combines their original brutality with a polished modern edge, reminding long-time fans why their earlier releases like The Somatic Defilement and This Is Exile became genre staples.
The title track, Hymns in Dissonance, sets the tone for the album with brutal precision, the guttural heaviness and razor-sharp riffs, reminding listeners why Whitechapel has been hailed as a defining force in deathcore. Phil Bozeman’s refined highs and raspy vocals channel the raw energy of the band’s early days, while the intricate dive bombs and relentless breakdowns echo their This Is Exile roots.
The previous single, “A Visceral Retch,” released in September 2024, gave fans a bloody preview. Detuned, unrelenting, and gutturally precise, the track captures the chaos and raw energy that originally defined Whitechapel.

Phil Bozeman’s vocal performance, more textured and punishing than ever, complements Brandon Zackey’s technical drumming and the layered, crushing riffs from guitarists Ben Savage, Alex Wade, and Zach Householder. Bassist Gabe Crisp rounds out the low end with a weight that feels almost suffocating.
“A Visceral Retch” explores gluttonous overlords exploiting humanity’s desperation. As Revolver described, it’s “relentlessly slamming, ominous, and punishing,” while Idioteq celebrated it as a reaffirmation of the band’s dominance in the deathcore genre.
On March 7, 2025, Hymns in Dissonance will officially release via Metal Blade Records.
Coinciding with the album, Whitechapel will embark on the Hymns in Dissonance North American headlining tour.
Starting March 18 in Raleigh, North Carolina, and wrapping up on April 19 in Atlanta, Georgia, the month-long run features support from Brand of Sacrifice, 200 Stab Wounds, and Alluvial. See the dates below.
