There’s nothing like good summer emo, and New Jersey’s 3 Dollars have a new one out now. The young emo-punk band have shared “Nauseous,” the opening track from their debut EP “Plus Tax,” out this Friday, 10 July, through Smartpunk Records.
The song follows “Suppressed Memories” and comes with a new video written, directed, produced and edited by Rio Rosario.
“Nauseous” keeps it bright and restless: quick guitars, tempo shifts, snotty vocals, and a lyric stuck somewhere between growing up, feeling sick, and trying to work out what the next move is.

Arthur Pawley, who sings and plays guitar in the band, said the lyrics were written “from a place of reflection during a time where there was rapid change in my life.”
“‘See it more than you can’ reflects on recognizing one’s path in life more than others who haven’t come to find theirs,” Arthur said.

The video follows a carefree day between friends turning into something a lot more chaotic. Sankeerth Chari worked as assistant camera, with LZ Matthias and Soleil Beares starring.
“Plus Tax” was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Connor Priest at Timber Studios, whose credits include Alex G and Tonks. The EP is available to preorder now through Smartpunk Records.

3 Dollars formed in high school in 2022 and have already opened for Quicksand and 7 Seconds. The band are Arthur Pawley on vocals and guitar, Tyler Wachtel on guitar, Ben Kamel on drums, and Costas Krassos on bass.
Chris Carrabba of Dashboard Confessional said, “They already have an identifiable point of view and approach to the arrangements and sonics feel earned in a way it takes most bands a lot longer to find.”
Steve Pedulla of Thursday added, “3 Dollars grabbed my ear immediately with their fresh perspective on the musical ideas I grew up loving.”
3 Dollars are also playing a short run of East Coast shows around the release:
7/9 Jersey City, NJ @ Pet Shop
7/10 Philadelphia, PA @ Dubois Robeson Peoples Center
7/11 Baltimore, MD @ House Show
7/12 Rutherford, NJ @ Social Club Records
