Ontario hardcore pack RUST share “Curse Your Name” ahead of a three-song New Age Records release

Ontario metallic-hardcore band Rust have a new one landing on streaming this Friday, 4 September. “Curse Your Name” comes as the band prepare a three-song CD and cassette single, “Curse Your Name/Path to Peace”, due this autumn through New Age Records.

This one is a proper beating. At my age, I have absolutely no desire to find myself in the middle of the pit when this comes on. See for yourselves below.

Rust formed in Ontario in 2019 and have spent the years since working around the heavier end of hardcore. Terror, Hatebreed, Machine Head and Trapped Under Ice sit among the band’s influences, with NYHC aggression meeting the kind of thick Midwest groove that makes considerably more sense in a packed room than through tiny laptop speakers.

Before this week’s single, Rust had three EPs and two singles behind them.

Their most recent EP, “True Decline”, came out through Southern California’s New Age Records in 2024. It pushed the band well beyond the Canadian circuit they had been working up to that point, with Rust subsequently making it into the US and across the Atlantic.

They have now completed two UK and European tours alongside a handful of US runs, and “Curse Your Name/Path to Peace” keeps the relationship with New Age Records going. The three-song release will be available on CD and cassette this autumn.

Rust also went back to the same people behind the desk. Andy Nelson at Bricktop in Chicago mixed the new stuff, with Brad Boatright handling mastering at Audiosiege.
