The old boat has been recently restored and is ready to unveil a new chapter of its history under a brand new name. I couldn’t be more surprised to find out that one of my favorite French bands has a new name! Leaving 2 guys from the original line-up, AUSITTOT MORT ae now known as MORT MORT MORT! But fear not! They’re not into a lawsuit fight, they still play AUSSITÔT MORT songs and come stronger than ever!
Wanna book them? Don’t hesitate! They are currently looking for single shows on Saturdays, beginning September. If anyone’s interested, please drop ’em a private message via Facebook.

Hey, guys! Something truly unbelievable brings you here. AUSSITÔT MORT has just changed the name to MORT MORT MORT! The question is… WHY?! :)
Hey again! Ok, through 8 years, the line-up changed, and in due to respect the past members we decided to change the name to MORT MORT MORT. It’s obviously a link to AUSSITÔT MORT, because we still are 3 of us except the drummer, and we still play AUSSITÔT MORT songs.
Fair decision, I believe. Who’s from the original line-up is still in the band?
Milouze (guitar and lead vocals) and Cédric (guitar).
So who left the band just now? Tell me more about the recent switch.
Was it ever difficult trying to get new members to settle in?
Pierre who played bass on the first line-up wanted to have a break to enjoy his new parent’s life, and so Marc who was usually driving us just came in naturally in April 2009. Recently, Pierre came back in to play some shows, so we decided to stay with 2 bassists, and alternate whenever they wanted. But, on the same way, the drummer Antoine decided to quit the band, so Pierre just followed him. But, we (Marc, Cédric and Milouze), are now playing in this band together since 4 years now, and we composed and recorded the last session together, which is called Nagikanysza. So we decided in agree with the past members to change the name but still stay the same band playing the same songs on shows. I know it’s kinda complicated.. It was not diffcult to find a new drummer in Steven, because we are good friends and for some of us already played with him in another project called THE EYE OF TIME, and we discovered recently that his first instrument was drums…
So I guess your recent tour with SUGARTOWN CABARET marked your last proper (yet short) tour as AUSITTOT MORT, didn’t it? How was that trek?
Well, the tour in France was successfully great. We had good fun, seeing old friends, and was great to go in the south of France for the very first time. With SUGARTOWN CABARET was a real pleasure with while we’re good friends since a long time ago. Also, it was really the first French tour, we usually get to other countries and did only some isolated shows here.
By the way, it was not really the last tour for AUSSITÔT MORT. The guys did a couple of shows in Russia with HEAVEN IN HER ARMS in March, the past bassist Pierre made these last shows.
Oh yeah, I was just about to ask you about that tour. including. It was St Petersburg, Moscow, what else? How was it? How tight are you with your pals from Japan?
Haha, can’t answer you precisely because I was not playing bass on this 2 shows, it was Pierre, the other bass player that used to play some years ago in the band. But as it seems, the shows were great, but the venues where too big, and they couldn’t enjoy so much the cities. We’re not used to play in big venues like that. And with Japan guys, is always very friendly.
Ha! You’re right, sorry!
Once again, I must make the same note I made last time we talked. I’d die to see you live in a tiny club sharing stage with ENVY! :) Haha!
What festivals will you be hanging out at this summer? Any chance to meet and greet at Fluff?
Yes, playing with ENVY would be awesome, but better 10 years ago.. ;)
No, we won’t do any festival this summer, but check it next year 2014 we’ll do a big summer tour with SUGARTOWN CABARET together! (We hope so)
Ho ho ho! Sounds like you’ve been hiding some extra news from me, haha! ;) You guys better make sure Poland is on the list, will ya? :)
Haha, yes we’re already talking about a 3 weeks tour in July 2014, and Poland will be definitely on our way!! I hope we’ll be agreed to play on hardcore festivals that summer, not always easy.
Nice :)
About the festivals, I was rather thinking about you attending some cool summer parties as an attendee, you know? Are you planning on attending any concerts or events this summer? How often do you go to a show?
We’ll sadly not go to festivals this summer, may be one close to our city in august where GODSPEED YOU BLACK EMPEROR will play. But the hardcore festivals are too far away from our home to get a trip there, since we’re going on tour already a lot in a year, it’s difficult get away from our family for not playing. But around our city, we try to support as much as possible the diy scene, by getting to most of the shows, or booking shows for friends on tour. We think the diy scene is something you have to give back when you tour a lot. So we couldn’t just stay outside of any diy activities when not touring. You can’t just pick what you want in the diy scene without any giving back, because it’s a community of friendship.
Did you play your debut gig as MMM? Any live shows with the new name behind you already?
The first show of MMM will be on a festival we’re organising on the 5 and 6 of july 2013. It’s our first edition, with 10 bands on 2 days. It’s a diy festival, on a the same week-end as a mainstream festival in our city, so it’s a big challenge for us doing that. I’m sure our new drummer will manage this show perfectly, as we can hear since 4 months practicing.
What are the nearest plans of the band? When can we expect a “debut” album from MORT MORT MORT? :)
The nearest plan is composing as much as possible new songs for a new album, that we hope will come out as soon as possible. Finger crossed for beginning next year. Also the “Nagykanisza” album will be released this year into a 12 inch version. And we’re thinking about an europ tour, with the amazing Häshcut from Caen, within the next months.
Great! Let me know how was it! I hope you’ll crush the big party, haha!
OK, let’s sum that “old” chapter called AUSSITOT MORT. How would you characterize the developement of your career? Are you proud of it? Did your dreams come true with the band? :)
That’s a tough question haha :) What can I say…we’ve been passing through a lot of problems mainly with some line-up changes. But I think, we assume more then ever now, what we’re doing, and after 8 years of existence, we had a lot of fun, and a lot of support. We still remember the last Summer tour in 2012, with NINE ELEVEN from France, and all the shows where just fucking crazy, specially the last one at the Fluff Fest. After that tour, it was difficult, when you see all the support from the punks you can have, to just stop the band when we had trouble that made the drummer switch. And we had some much fun playing the AUSSITÔT MORT songs on that tour, and we still stay 3 of us, that it was impossible for us to try something else. We’re now very excited to go on tour again!
Cool. Thanks so much for this brief update and more time spent with me. Thanks and hopefully talk to you even more again next time!
Thanks very much to you, hope to see you one day on tour!!
