Just a couple of months after the release of their trippy full length “Ham Radio” on IDIOTEQ-featured Brooklyn based psych garage rock label King Pizza Records, Italian fuzzy, classic rock’n’roll inspired fuzz rock act THE DUKE OF SURL is joining us today to give you a new single called A Break In The Wave!
The project’s mainman Will Brown has been putting out a series of standalone digital singles and this song is a follow-up to his mid-August jam The Walk. It was recorded it between Passaic, New Jersey, and Milan, Italy, where Will currently lives. He was kind enought to give us a quick commentary on the track and its content:
It is an older song I have had kicking around for a number of years that we have been using to closeout a lot of our live shows. The response has been great so I decided to record it in the noisier style that it has taken on with this band. The song is about an individual who is being led to his execution and trying, perhaps unsuccessfully, to make peace with his spiritual self. The title “A Break In The Wave” does not reference the ocean. It references an infinite wave form that stops or breaks when it reaches a wall or barrier, in this case, the individual.
Credits: Written, Performed, and Recorded by Will Brown / Drums by Sam Trioli / Mastered by Mitch Rackin at Tonefloat Recording / Art by Will Brown and Sean Lamoureux
Asked about plans for the next year, Will dropped us the first teaser on his next record and more live shows:
A lot is happening next year. I have one or two more digital singles ready for release this winter and I am currently recording my 2nd full length. That should be out either late Spring or early Summer and will be followed by a tour.
