AT THE DRIVE-IN release new song & video “Hostage Stamps”

1 min read

After revealing 2 new tracks (HERE adn HERE) in late 2016 and earlier this year, influential post-hardcore act AT THE DRIVE-IN have released a new animated video for their new track Hostage Stamps, coming from their new record ‘in•ter a•li•a’, their first album since 2000’s iconic offering “Relationship Of Command”. Watch below and GO HERE to see their upcoming live dates.

Cedric Bixler-Zavala described the song “like walking through the hallway in some war-torn ghetto and reading the writing on the wall.”

“In•ter a•li•a“ comes out on May 05th via Rise Records.

Cedric continues:

“When you hear things like, ‘Raise your nithing pole,’ I don’t think anyone will know what that is right away, but when you look it up, it’s this curse. We are going to be victorious. Here’s the fucking head on the stake in front of our army. We’re coming back.

It’s reading the writing on the wall. It’s going and keeping your ear to the ground and listening to the heartbeat of young people.”

Lyrics:

my eyes scroll to the back of my head,
the Lord’s dare taken in vein
keepsake battalions, phantom couplets,
a new tactile cremation attested opaque
spurs
contemplative
mayhem keeps us
branded on the wrist
DO NOT EMBALM,
a paper nest truancy of wasps .
wrap me up in mylar film
the anachronism enacts the indigenous
prolonged exposure
to combustible nativism

Thirty days spent in the hole
Raise yourself a nithing pole
Inoculated at the liqour store
Drunk on the piss
Of semaphore embers

the hospice waltz of corpus flowers
leaves pinko fumes from turret guns
sawing at the base of pylon towers
banking on the drought banking on the

opaque spurs
I’ve defeated every crypt

in the potters field of machuca
calling from the blossoming dust
slid down the bank, choking on sherm
a new tactile cremation attested
to opaque spurs
contemplative
mayhem keeps us together

Thirty days spent in the hole
Raise yourself a nithing pole
Inoculated at the liqour store
Drunk on the piss
Of semaphore embers

put your hurt in a safe
throw it in wet cement
Never speak of this to a living soul
heed the mercury blots
of this Rorschach advice
no good will come of your insect rebellion

Thirty days spent in the hole
Raise yourself a nithing pole
Inoculated at the liqour store
Drunk on the piss
Of semaphore embers

¡ raise your nithing poles !
¡ raise your nithing poles !
¡ raise your nithing poles !
