BANE’s “Boston 6:58pm” returns to the spotlight, European tour coming up

3 mins read

After years of being buried in physical format obscurity, BANE’s Boston 6:58pm is getting a digital treatment. Originally released on October 17, 2009, through Boston’s Triple B Records, this short but potent EP is now available on all major streaming platforms starting June 13, 2025. A limited 12-inch vinyl reissue is set to follow on June 20.

The release marks a rare moment of reflection for a band more often associated with motion than memory. Clocking in at just over 7 minutes in its original form, Boston 6:58pm was the first in a globe-spanning “world series” 7-inch project.

Each version of the release adopted a localized identity—Dublin 11:58pm in Europe (HURRY UP! RECORDS), Tokyo 7:58am in Japan (ALLIANCE TRAX), Curitiba 7:58pm in South America, and Perth 7:58am in Australia (RESIST RECORDS). Each edition contributed to a layered discography that was both global in ambition and unmistakably rooted in Boston’s hardcore legacy.

The tracks—The Bold and the Beautiful, One Life to Live, and The Young and the Restless—showcased BANE’s sharp balance of urgency and introspection at a time when the band was shifting into its later creative period. Expanded editions included additional songs like As the World Turns, The Guiding Light, Another World, and even a cover of BJÖRK’s Enjoy.

This re-release comes with particular emotional gravity. The band notes that the recordings feature the late BrendanStuMaguire on bass, adding personal weight to the return of these sessions. As they stated in the announcement, “This record was recorded with our brother Stu on bass, and it means the world to us.”

Recently, Equal Vision and Bane also released the 25th anniversary edition of It All Comes Down To This, the band’s celebrated debut album. Fully remixed by Brian McTernan (Hot Water Music, Converge, Thrice) and entirely remastered, this new, updated collection gives this hardcore classic the justice it finally deserves.

After more than 20 years and a long process of tracking down the tapes, the band finally got them transferred and into the hands of McTernan in 2023. In December 2023, the band got the first rough mix and were blown away by how good it sounded. After a few more months, McTernan turned in the final mix and it literally brought tears to the band’s eyes; Steve Austin captured the songs for that time and McTernan’s talent brought it to life and made it sound the way it was always intended to be heard.

BANE has also announced a full European tour for summer 2025. The run begins July 25 in Germany and includes dates in the Netherlands, UK, Romania, France, Italy, and more.
