BLAND injects a touch of eccentricity into gritty rock with “Temple Of Ikov”

1 min read

Beginning with a flirtatious, action ready guitar melody, and morphing into an 80s infused post punk ‘n’ roll road trip soundtrack, Montreal-based singer, songwriter, and experimental garage rocker Stephen Baird’s latest track “Temple Of Ikov” is one to put on repeat. It’s the result of  an ever evolving project lead by guitarist, singer, songwriter dubbed BLAND, who recently moved to Montreal from suburbs of Toronto, Canada, and is launching the cycle of releasing a single once a month for the next 2-3 months, leading up to his debut full-length premiere sometime in early 20019. Today, we’re giving you his first jam that’s kind of indicative of the sort of experimental layers that Stephen tend to bring to his music.

I don’t care to give a straightforward meaning of the song, especially since it takes away some of the fun but something along the lines of wanting to do something but letting the fear stop/overwhelm you; overcoming the fear to become what you should be.

Recorded at Life’s Down Studios (Montreal) with Steven Gibb.

Gorgeously twisting through an abyss of styles and sonic palettes; bland is the gnome at the end of the road consistently misguiding and deceiving your daily perception of life through melody.

Catch BLAND live in Montreal at Crobar this Saturday with Chacal, Warpark (NYC) and Mardi De July 14th ( GO HERE to see the details), as well on his upcoming tour in Ontario, Canada with friends Palmetto:

July 31 – Aug 4
July 31 – Sarnia
Aug 1 – Guelph
Aug 3 – Toronto
Aug 4 – KIngston
