Out July 25 via Tor Johnson Records, Brözerker’s Stay Rad comes from a lineup built on years of touring, shared grime, and a mutual refusal to overthink anything. Rabies and Dtox—longtime friends who’ve lived the van life together—started writing songs out of boredom and necessity. “There was only one rule,” they say. “No hassles.”
That ethos defines the record. Short blasts of crossover aggression bleed into old-school skate punk and metallic hardcore.
The band includes members of Stretch Arm Strong, Wretched, Guyana Punch Line, and Thank God, but none of that legacy overshadows the pure intent behind Stay Rad.
It’s rough-edged and cynical in delivery, drawing as much from West Coast punk energy as it does from the deadpan nihilism of bands like Municipal Waste or early Suicidal Tendencies. “Songs flowed like a freshly tapped keg or a well designed skate park,” they say, but there’s bitterness beneath the surface—a resistance to polish, structure, and the demand to mean something.
The project expanded when Johnny Good Times and Tiny came on board, turning what started as a two-man exercise in catharsis into a full band. The tone stayed the same—burnt-out stories, wrecked expectations, and jokes only half-meant. The sound is a product of its influences, but not a tribute. It’s fast, hostile, and wrapped in the kind of sarcasm that only comes from doing this for way too long and still choosing to go back in.
Stay Rad is up for pre-order now. Tor Johnson has the exclusive algae green edition with a screen-printed B-side. There’s a beer yellow version direct from the band, an ocean blue variant via Ebullition and Stickfigure, and a cover variant only available at Limited To One in NYC on release day.
