CLEAVER strikes with full force, grasps our innards in the face of a violent, aggressive, and obscure world

1 min read

As Russia invades Ukraine, “Sunset” by French chaotic hardcore band CLEAVER is a harsh commentary to the modern world. A whirlwind of aggressiveness, without any artifice or frills, mixed with a colossal intensity and a chaotic madness.

Inspired by American hardcore punk like Converge, Botch and Poison the Well, CLEAVER merge violent, heavy riffs, pounding drums and grinding vocals to craft a sound that is equally dark, oppressive, and intense.

Cleaver

Founded in Commercy, Meuse, France in late 2018, the band is comprised of brothers Mathis Garelli on guitar/vocals and Léo-Paul Garelli on drums along with Franck Fortina on bass/vocals. During the first year of their existence, the trio dropped two studio singles, “Desperate” and “Ghost of Us” and played numerous shows at their local scene opening for bands like Crowbar, Lofofora and Pogo Car Crash Control.

Now, Cleaver are set out to make a lasting impression with release of their first album “No More Must Crawl” , an effort that doesn’t mess around and unleashes a well-crafted piece of metallic hardcore with violent force.

CLEAVER is: Mathis Garelli – Guitar/Vocals, Franck Fortina – Bass/Lead Vocals, Léo-Paul Garelli – Drums
