Crusty hardcore band BALACLAVA hit the road

1 min read

BALACLAVA will be touring the U.S. in March. See the official announcement below.

Hailing from the filthy bowels of Richmond, Virginia, BALACLAVA spit out their warped take on raging hardcore punk with deadly intensity. The band was born in 2006, and took its name from the ski mask preferred by guerrilla militias, not pastries!
Crimes of Faith, the debut LP from BALACLAVA, was unleashed by Forcefield Records this past summer, on August 30, 2011, and according to The Inarguable, the album “encompasses all that hardcore is supposed to have: emotion, aggressiveness and over-the-top intensity. A true gem of hardcore brilliance.”

In conjunction with Cosmic Debris, the Richmond-based label summoned forth the vinyl edition of the album, with Southern Lord taking care of the CD & digital versions. Now, they’re taking their virulent live show on the road, heading down to decimate SXSW an the surrounding states! Recently announced as part of the Brooklyn Vegan/ Southern Lord/The Power of the Riff showcase alongside High On Fire, Off!, Trash Talk, Black Cobra, Ceremony, Deafheaven, Full of Hell, Heartless, Dead in The Dirt, and DNF, BALACLAVA will also be shredding stages with RVA brothers WINDHAND, MUTILATION RITES, HULL, and more in their quest for vengeance. Dates are below, get ready to rage!

Drawing from the blueprints laid down by the cults of Neurosis, His Hero Is Gone and Cursed, this virulent quartet scorn the simplicity of genre labels, choosing instead to transmute their punk and metal roots into something altogether nastier. BALACLAVA’s sound ranges from sludgy, crust-ridden dirges to restrained, ominous melodies to moments of blistering triumph. Their debut full-length, Crimes of Faith, is a thoughtful, multifaceted expression of seething animosity and fervent exultation.

1) Victims
2) Throne of Grace
