Chicago and New Jersey’s own hardcore band, Hold My Own, have announced their latest sonic onslaught, the “In My Way” EP, slated for an October 20th release on the DAZE label. And as if this announcement wasn’t exciting enough for fans, the band has also unveiled a potent music video for the title track, setting the hardcore scene abuzz.

Hold My Own, with their deep-rooted associations to renowned acts such as The Mongoloids, Shattered Realm, MH Chaos, World Demise, and Sector, have a penchant for producing tracks that are a clarion call to mosh pits everywhere. The song “In My Way” exemplifies their ethos—a relentless collision of formidable vocals, meaty riffs, and introspective lyrics.

The accompanying video, skillfully directed and filmed by Sunny Singh of hate5six fame, adds an intriguing twist. Shot in the living room of siblings Anchit Chhabra (guitar/vocals) and Kashish Chhabra (bass), the video intriguingly juxtaposes familial traditions with the unmistakable aesthetics of hardcore.

Speaking about the track and the video, Anchit shared, “‘In My Way’ revolves around carving out your own path despite challenges—even when the challenge is one’s own self. It celebrates individualism, reminiscent of Frank Sinatra’s iconic style. The video, infused with family traditions, offers a unique experience that I will cherish forever.”

HOLD MY OWN

Having marked their entrance into the hardcore arena in 2021 with a demonstrative demo, Hold My Own has been on an unstoppable trajectory. Their 2022 EP and subsequent split with Carried By Six showcased their evolution, channeling the spirit of legends like Biohazard, Bulldoze, and Sheer Terror, but rejuvenating it with a modern rage.

Their forthcoming EP, “In My Way“, promises not only their signature power but introduces unexpected samples and features guest vocals from Jon Ortiz of Sector and Senta from the Japanese hardcore crew Numb. The auditory craftsmanship behind the EP involved the expertise of Andy Nelson at Bricktop in Chicago and Taylor Young at The Pit in Van Nuys.
