“Economy Of Death” – REFUSED drop new track & music video!

2 mins read

Swedish influential act REFUSED have released another new song from their fifth studio album “War Music”. “Economy Of Death” takes a punch on capitalism and comes with a music video above. Check it out, read the official word from the band and scroll down to see their upcoming tour dates!

First off, you’ll be hard pressed to find a more succinct and graceful song title in this years crop of evergreens. Secondly, very few of the other best songs you’ve heard this year has such a delightful Sodom influence. Last but not least, this song has only one purpose: to rip your goddamn face off and well, we think it will. Give it a spin comrades and if appropriate, post photos of your demolished kissers / Refused

“We’re a band that talks about politics,” frontman Dennis Lyxzén tells SPIN. He notes the themes on War Music shouldn’t surprise fans of their watershed third LP, The Shape of Punk to Come: A Chimerical Bombination in 12 Bursts, which begins with the lyrics, “I got a bone to pick with capitalism / And a few to break.” “That has been our M.O. from day one as a band, coming from a punk and hardcore background,” he says; The Shape of Punk to Come was released in the fall of 1998—weeks before Refused called it quits. “We felt that, now, more than ever, was a time for us to show people our roots and let them know what we think about the world we live in today. It was something we felt we should do and needed to do.” / SPIN

Lyrics:

Economy of death dictates the division of east and west
Cold war cultists design an arms race for safe space
The working class is betrayed while capitalists do the bidding
Your occupation becomes that you die for a living

You’re so fucked
You’re so fucked

Economy of death restricts all terror to them and us
While bombs and walls are built self-government’s left in the dust

It’s a con that kills all

Economy of death determines the narrative it needs
Apocalyptic propaganda, a neo-liberal scheme
Lapdogs of tyrants collude to further their fucking greed
You sit at home refreshing the end of history feed

It’s a con that kills all
It’s a con that kills all

It’s only a mushroom cloud away
It’s only a mushroom cloud away

Economy of death dictates the division of east and west
Economy of death restricts all terror to them and us
Economy of death determines the narrative it needs
Economy of death ensures you remain compliant sheep

You’re so fucked
You’re so fucked
You’re so fucked
You’re so fucked
Fucked
Fucked
Fucked
