Emotive punk rockers THE CAROLYN mark their first Canadian show with “Nosebleeds,” a song about cycles we struggle to break

Atlanta trio the Carolyn have teamed up with us to give you their newest video for “Nosebleeds,” aligning its release with their debut performance at Montreal’s Pouzza Fest. The track marks their second new single since 2023’s Harmful History, written as the initial step forward after that record’s release.

Nosebleeds was the first song we wrote after our last release,” the band shared. “I think the song is largely about malaise and getting stuck in a cycle of bad habits, something we’re always trying to break.” The lyrics circle that theme plainly and without ornament—“Cast curses on the work week / Your Saturday nervous nosebleed / Bottles piled deep and lost in the weeds”—repeating like a litany for the worn down and disillusioned. The line between coping and collapsing is blurred throughout, driven more by resignation than drama.

The video keeps pace with that tone—direct, with no forced aesthetic or ironic detachment. Like the lyrics, it reflects a looped existence, small habits that pile up into larger inertia: “It’s the usual Sunday fare / You could call my name / And only dust appears.”

Nosebleeds” continues the Carolyn’s straightforward, emotionally accessible songwriting, without indulging in self-pity or reaching for false clarity.

The sound stays rooted in their Atlanta DIY punk scene, one they describe with real appreciation: “We are fortunate to have a lot of great friends putting out great songs. Some of our favorites include Dakota Floyd, New Junk City, Seagulls and Spray Tan.”

They also name Record Plug Magazine as an important outlet in the Atlanta/Athens area, reinforcing that sense of a local ecosystem.
