End Of The Year 2020: original wrap-up by DIY punk rock label KROD Records

1 min read

With so many ways to listen new music and get new artists inspirations now, there’s no reason to wait until the end of the year to find out what’s worth checking out, but also what was important for independent art and music creators. This simple idea driving our series (GO HERE, and HERE to see previous two editions) came to fruition to recognize noteworthy bands, artists, movies, and books, but also uncover stuff that’s important for content creators. This year’s edition starts with a special guest summary from our friend label KROD Records, operating from Berlin, Germany, and established in Toulouse, France in March 2015 by Jordan Calvi. Check it out below and GO HERE to follow our KROD-related features and discover more artists worth your time!

First of all, thanks Karol from IDIOTEQ for asking for us to be part of it. This is always a pleasure to work with you.

The year 2019 for Krod Records has been intense as much as my personal life. We’ve been releasing several artists this year on vinyl and digital : Flèche “Do Not Return Fire”, The Cold Reading trilogy part of the full album coming in 2020 “ZYT”, Elm Tree Circle “Flow” single, also part of an album set to be released in 2020, Between Bodies “On Fences” (premiere of the single on IDIOTEQ “Great”), Bloodsport, Livingston, Kill Her First. The Vernal, Resolve, Homeground & Makeshift Promise. Yes, this is A LOT (at least for me).

2020 is gonna be less crazy with the new signing as we’ve got lots to do already. Winter comes with Cold Reading new album “ZYT”, Spring with Livingston new album “This is A Robbery”, Forgive new album “Mirror”, Elm Tree Circle new album “NO FOMO”, Summer/Fall with Kill Her First album and then…we’ll see!

These are my non-KROD best releases of 2018/19:

1. New Native “Asleep

2. Antillectual “The Invisible Hand Meets the Visible Fist

3. Ottawa “No More Love Songs

4. Lagwagon “Railer

5. Hi Spencer “Nicht raus, aber weiter

6. Birds in Row “We Already Lost The World

Favorite shows of 2019:

Refused / Thrice / Petrol Girls in Amsterdam (Nov. 2019)

This was an amazing show I’ve spent with Jana, the venue was great with a professional sound and I don’t need to tell you how awesome the bands were.

Have Heart in Köln, Germany.

Inspiration of the year(s):

– My girlfriend soon wife Jana, Trüffel, all my artists, my family, my friends.

– This particular year, I’ve been inspired by the serie “Dark”, “When They See Us”, the old school comedy movies from Jim Carrey and tons of artists.

I’ve been buying tons of classic rock disc those past months on Discogs. I think this gonna be a 2020 thing too.
