Ethereal noise rock act HEADS. premiere new record ‘Collider’!

2 mins read

After a tasty teaser back in February, sludgy, art/noise rockers HEADS. are finally on the verge of the official release of their new record ‘Collider’, and we’re thrilled to give you its official stream ahead of its Friday release via This Charming Man Records, Corpse Flower Records, and Heart Of The Rat Records.

Since their beginning, HEADS. have had two speeds as a band, delivering either crushing, thick bass filled riffs, or creating wonderful, atmospheric walls of ethereal, sludge-laden sound. ‘Collider’ finds them preferring the former, and creating an incredible set that’s as thick as a brick and filled with fluid, full of life and great organic feel. These guys do a good job of sequencing and varying tempos, and ‘Collider’ is one of the more adventurous records of its type.

This album proves HEADS to be masters at bending noise into narrative and heavy riffing into images of vast wastelands. Collider is art rock meeting sludge in a carefully arranged interplay of grave digging and marble sculpting. A bleak redefinition of heartland rock that’s situated on the verge of the savage and the sophisticated. / Robert Westerveld – Arctic Drones

Singer & guitarist Ed Fraser commented:

“The 10 songs on Collider were written over the last 2 years or so, it’s kind of a weird setup for us now as it’s very rare that the three of us are in the same city at the same time these days. These songs all come from a bleak place, they’re all interconnected in one way or another, there are a lot of recurring themes here. Last year we recorded the whole album over nearly three weeks with Jan Kerscher at Ghost City in Germany, it lives up to its name – there’s not a whole lot else to do out there apart from be in the studio, by the end we definitely felt like we were in some weird three person version of The Shining. We tracked the music live together, and pushed each other to create tension within the music, to try and get that feeling that the songs are all about to come through.”

Collider by HEADS is out April 6, 2018 via This Charming Man Records (Europe, pre-order HERE), Corpse Flower Records (North America), and Heart Of The Rat Records (Australia/NZ). GO HERE to get more details.
