Experimental post black metal beast SELVA [‘selvə] premiere new song!

January 22, 2018
1 min read

I knew when I first heard [‘selvə] and their breathtaking 2016 record eléo it was a record that was exactly the kind of engaging and jaw-dropping music I was looking for. Today, 1,5 years since its release I am beyond stoked to team up with the band and give you the first taste of their new stunning release called “D O M A“.  [‘selvə]‘s sound consists of a unique twisted balance between black metal atmospherics and post rock/screamo sonorities, and their newest work called “D O M A” contains two songs with a total length of 25 minutes, that combines elements from both the previous releases. The following new track “Silen” delivers, point by point, on everything you could want from a mixture of the mentioned moods and styles. Dive into their newest furious explorations and the darkest aspects of human psyche.

With their first two records “Life Habitual” and “eléo” the band received a great response from the international underground scene by playing heavy and energetic live performances along bands such as Full of Hell, Shining, Celeste, Suis La Lune.

Here’s what they have to say about the new track we’re premiering below:

“SILEN was written during a really hard time for us as human beings: about one year and a half ago we had to face the worst side of life after multiple strikes of letdowns and breakups.

We channeled all the negative energies that came from those feelings and let it flow into our music. As a result this first track represents everything we learned since then, it is dark and twisted enough to assure you that in this half of the record there is no room for joy.

However “SILEN” is just the first step that leads into a new journey during which the previous feelings will be erased little by little. [We can reveal that some kind of “rebirth” is waiting for you at the very end of “D O M A”]” [‘selvə]

“D O M A” is out on February 14, 2018 on vinyl via Overdrive, Shove, General Soreness, Nothing Left Records, + Amici – Storie, Tanato Records, À Fond d’Cale Prod, Cave Canem D.I.Y., Hardcore For The Losers, and on tape via Hesitation, and Zegema Beach Records.

Cover by Matteo Photocane Cavalleri.
