Noise rock tinged 90s post hardcore act FASHION WEEK premiering new track “Rich Hallister”

2 mins read

With a European tour on the horizon, NYC distorted noise rock / grungy post hardcore act FASHION WEEK have teamed up with us to give you an exclusive listen of their unreleased b-side track “Rich Hallister”, coming from their new collection of rare tracks called ‘So Last Season‘, scheduled for a March 2nd release on their own InDebth Recordings and Solar Flare Records! The abrasive punk goodness from touring guitarist for JARBOE, COBALT, SHAI HULUD and VAMPILLIA demands focus, and rewards it hugely.

This forthcoming release So Last Season includes two unreleased EP’s as well as other material, including a cover of “Only Pain” by UNSANE that actually feature Vinny Signorelli of UNSANE on drums!

The band’s guitarist/vocalist Joshua Lozano commented:

“We initially recorded this track during the sessions for our Prèt-â-Porter album (Solar Flare Records, 2015). I showed up to record vocals sick as a dog.  Andrew Schneider (who produced the record) was booked out months in advance so we had to get it done. By the end of the day I was totally done and we tracked this one last. At the time I was really unhappy with my voice on this song, but hearing it later I feel like it works. Revisiting it now I feel like it kind of works, like those Coalesce songs where you can just hear that Sean has been screaming all day and it sounds totally fucked up and desperate (awesome).”

NYC trio Fashion Week has announced an album release for this March via their own InDebth Recordings. So Last Season is a full-length collection of rare and unreleased material originating over the past few years. The release includes two EP’s that were recorded prior to 2015’s full-length album Prêt-à-Porter (Solar Flare Records) as well as a non-album B-side entitled “Rich Hallister.” Rounding out the release is Fashion Week’s take on Noise-rock royalties, Helmet’s “I Know” and Unsane’s “Only Pain” as well as two live tracks. The CD version will also include a remastered version of the band’s original demo. The band will also be releasing a 7” vinyl version of the demo (available as a package bundle via Fashion Week’s Bandcamp page).

Helmed by vocalist/guitarist Joshua Lozano the band’s songs range from noise-rock, melodic post-hardcore and abrasive pop, all with equal mastery. In addition to Fashion Week Lozano’s impressive resume includes being a touring member of projects including Jarboe (The Swans), Cobalt (Profound Lore Records), Shai Hulud and Japanese art-metal outfit, Vampillia.

With a rotating rhythm section, Fashion Week has at points included members of Nakatomi Plaza, Swarm Of The Lotus and Sheep Shifter. While the band has featured a number of different members Lozano says “Anyone who has ever been in this band is still a member. The door is always open.” An example of this is original Bassist Brett Zweiman who relocated to Vietnam several years ago but will be re-joining Fashion Week for their forthcoming European tour.

This open-door policy also led to a notable guest on the band’s cover version of “Only Pain.” Lozano related “we recorded the song for an Unsane tribute album and had a deadline to get it done. We figured who better to ask to drum on it but our friend, Vinny (Signorelli) of Unsane! His exact response was ‘sure, I already know the song.”
