FOX LAKE bring the “Cold Hard Truth” with new power track and music video

1 min read

Denver’s Fox Lake are carving out their own lane with the release of the “Cold Hard Truth” video, a chaotic blend of nu-metal, hardcore, and hip-hop. Known for their no-holds-barred energy and genre-mashing style, the band dropped this track as their first big move of 2025 under their new label, MNRK Heavy.

Fox Lake describes “Cold Hard Truth” as “the moment your luck runs out.” It’s a track that punches as hard as it grooves, balancing sharp-edged lyrics with heavy, grinding beats. “We wanted the whole song to feel like the moment your luck runs out. It’s just as heavy as it is groovy and the lyrics cut like a knife,” the band states. And they weren’t lying. The track delivers that gut-punch clarity, layered with their signature anti-establishment swagger.

The song, much like the band itself, thrives on contradictions: raw aggression meets precise production, and the unrelenting rhythms are countered by hip-hop grooves that keep you hooked.

Fox Lake’s story starts in 2017 when four friends in Denver decided to branch out from their metalcore roots. The goal was clear—take the elements they loved most from hardcore, hip-hop, and rock ‘n’ roll, and merge them into something new. Over the years, their sound evolved into a sonic brass-knuckled brawl, landing them on the radar of MNRK Heavy, one of the largest independent music companies in the world.

MNRK’s roster and reputation for supporting genre-defying artists make it a fitting home for Fox Lake, whose sound is impossible to pin down.
