FOXING – “Indica” video

2 mins read

FOXING released a stunning new video today for their song “Indica”, featuring a new version of the song with guest vocals from TANCRED’s Jess Abbot. Directed by John Komar and Foxing bassist Josh Coll, the affecting video explores the far reaches of the song’s dark content. “Indica” is from Foxing’s sophomore full-length Dealer, out now on Triple Crown Records.

Coll said of the new video, “Initially I wrote a version of the video that closely played off the subject matter of the lyrics. The idea of music videos depicting what’s being sang is, as a matter of personal taste, traditionally something we’ve shied away from; however, the song is so direct that it seemed impossible to go any other way with it. That specific treatment ended up being pulled for reasons unrelated to the content, and since I had already tackled the most direct approach, I decided to go for something completely unrelated to war and post traumatic stress disorder. At the time I was watching a lot of espionage movies, like Sneakers, The Lives of Others, and The Conversation, you know, and I became obsessed with the idea these surveillance operators; specifically how their one sided relationship with their subjects would affect them. It really wasn’t until the video was completely finished that I realized how close the video parallels my struggle with coming home from war; every character depicts an aspect, or a fragment of the whole. I didn’t mean for that to happen and it really affected me when I saw what we made.”

Foxing will play a handful of dates in the Midwest in December before embarking on a European tour this spring. Tour dates can be found below and tickets for all shows are available at www.foxingtheband.com.

Dealer was produced by Matt Bayles (Minus the Bear, Mastodon) and sees Foxing transcending their widely acclaimed 2015 debut full-length The Albatross, which won widespread acclaim from outlets such as Pitchfork, The AV Club and Stereogum.  Honest, lush, and fragile, Dealer sees Foxing pushing both their songwriting and their musical boundaries, risks that pay off in spades across the album’s 11 tracks.

The band has spent much of the past year taking their captivating live performance on the road, supporting everyone from Brand New to mewithoutYou to American Football to their recent co-headlining tour with The World Is A Beautiful Place And I am No Longer Afraid to Die.
