French post metal act MONTAGNE explores the beauty of Alaska in their new picturesque video “Piaraq”

September 8, 2017
1 min read

Alaska is surely one of the greatest travel experiences that you can have in the great out-of-doors adventure that has everything to literally bring you to your knees in utter amazement. Known for its rugged natural beauty, the region is wildly beautiful, scenic and challenging, and it’s always a great pleasure to look at some of its natural wonders, and raw, unspoiled beauty. French post metal / post hardcore band MONTAGNE have teamed up with their friends Simon and Alexis to put together an outstanding music video for their track “Piaraq”, the opener for their debut record “Exorde”, released earlier this year! The track opens with the dynamic intensity of their organic performance, then fades into more atmospheric, pulsing ambience and explodes into a vocal-backed closure where their signature fusion sound is immediately apparent. All bathed in beautiful landscapes and sceneries you can look at for hours.

The band commented:

We are a band playing since 2016. We released our first album named “Exorde” in April. We tried to do something new using every post-core and stoner influences we love. We also wanted to do something about nature and not to follow classical metal aesthetics. Our very best friends Simon and Alexis did a road trip through Alaska. Their project is called Piaraq. We have asked them if we could use the videos they shot during their trip. They said yes, that’s how this music video was born. This may appears to be a weird mix : metal and outdoor images, but that’s how we like to define our music : Outdoor Metal

The video has been colorgraded by Pierre Neveu. The track comes from the album “Exorde”, released on April 4th through Châtelain Records. Recorded by Augustin Pannard, mixed and mastered by Timothée Froger, the record features cover art by JBJ.

Catch the band live this October, and listen to the full record below!
