GLASSING’s masterpiece “Spotted Horse” traverses various genres; gets a new tape reissue on Zegema Beach Records

November 8, 2020
1 min read

Originally released on 12″ by Brutal Panda and cassette by Medication Time Records, GLASSING’s ‘Spotted Horse’ was sold out of tapes and Zegema Beach Records wanted in. The Canadian screamo label made 126 very sexy tapes, co-released by Medication Time Records and Glassing, with everyone having their own variant! Grab your copy via this US store or this internation outlet.

“GLASSING’s ‘Spotted Horse’ was one of the best albums of 2019, so we thought it only fitting to make some kickass swirl tapes for such a kickass release. Beautifully gelling massive post-hardcore, frenzied screaming, and ethereal atmospherics, Austin’s three-piece boast 10 stellar, honed jams on this debut LP. New material is already in progress! Originally released by Brutal Panda Records, tapes released under exclusive license.” – issues Zegema Beach Records.

Comments Brutal Panda Records: “Cold sand on a barren coastline. Spectral blackness. Godless nights. The calmness of undisturbed water. The illusion of belonging. Death As A Gift. These are but a minute illustration of the vast array of themes and explorations deliberated upon by Austin, TX trio GLASSING on their sophomore opus Spotted Horse. Weaving together layers upon layers of dense textures, swirling blast beats and looming atmospheres, GLASSING excel at the art of organized chaos through sound. Across 10 songs and 44 minutes, GLASSING blend elements of black metal and post-hardcore with ambient explorations, dream-pop sensibilities and grinding walls of sound that defy categorization. Spotted Horse is, at its core, a construction of dynamic, beautifully unsettling soundscapes and nothingness unsurfaced.”

For Fans Of: Deafheaven, Oathbreaker, Astronoid, Alcest, Sigur Ros, This Will Destroy You, Envy, Birds In Row

Originally released May 17, 2019 by Brutal Panda Records, tapes released with exclusive license. Mixed and engineered by Andrew Hernandez.

Also, be sure to check out the band’s latest single Twin Dream:

Lyrics:

I am the boy that wandered off
I am the ghost without a cause
And now the catch begets the lie
You made it out why couldn’t I

A wonder works and all it costs
The very thing that we’ve forgot
A second glance is all it takes
We should have moved a faster pace

I made the worst of what you gave
Another chance to waste the day
Why don’t you ask I’ll give the truth
I made it out why couldn’t you

Yes valiant sons, ride the high

Culled from wombs still bleating
Called without their words
Crowns of hymns are singing
Songs of unending scorn

Gods reach cannot find you
All in the void we shall rot
