After a 10 year break, THE IDORU is back with their original lineup…The history of the band goes back to 2003, since then they played several headliner tours through Europe, Japan, as well as joined tours with other bands such as “Ignite” (Japan) and the legendary punk band Misfits on a few of their European tours. Since the start, the IDORU have released 4 albums and a few EPs. The new EP “Old songs” that marks a new era of the band contains 3 brand new songs and will be released in September 2020.
The Idoru is a post-hardcore band from, Budapest, Hungary. The group was formed in 2003 by ex-members of the Hungarian hardcore band, Newborn. The band quickly stood up and started to play several gigs in their local area, and soon after, several shows abroad. Spending their first year to establish a base for further actions, they realized that it was time for them to make their first recording. In the fall of this year, they started the recording, and on a New Year’s Eve live appearance of the band, the mcd entitled After the Storm (EP) came to life.
This three-song debut was the product of the collaboration between the guys and legendary Japanese record label Alliance-Trax. The collaboration turned out well which resulted in their debut album titled Brand New Way, Brand New Situation (album) was recorded in late 2004. In the fall of 2004 the band joined the rooster of the successful uprising Austrian label Burning Season Records, and the full-length album was released in February 2005. In 2005 after recording their 3rd record Hopeless Illusions EP, they decided to leave Burning Season Records to join Deadbutcher Records. In 2020 the IDORU join Swedish record-label Black star foundation to release a new 3 – song EP.
The Idoru combines the forces of metal, hardcore and punk-rock genres which results in an interesting and progressive sound.
“The Idoru included the essence of melodic hardcore over highly addictive emotive narrations that retain elements of both contemporary post-hardcore and skate punk trends…The impressive chants, polyphonic dualities, and energetic maneuvers of the rhythm section are still there, but they’re even more empowered by thoughtful arrangements and marvelous songwriting…This magnificent recording is the definitive statement of the band that simply shouts they’re back and here to stay…” (Thoughts Words Action)
