Polish ambient / instrumental post rockers TIDES FROM NEBULA, who have recently celebrated their 10th anniversary, have parted ways with their longtime guitarist and co-founder Adam Waleszyński. Check out the official word below.

Dear Friends, as the new Year began, we want to announce a big change. After 10 wonderful years, Adam, our guitar player, friend and brother decided to leave the band. We know that this step wasn’t easy for him and we trully respect his decision. Below you can read a short statement from Adam, in which he explains a bit more

Adam, it was a perfect decade together and we are glad that you were a part of it, it’s amazing that we managed to create so many beautiful things together. We keep our fingers crossed for your future plans Friend!

Currently we are finishing writing the tracks for our fifth album, which we plan to release later this year. We’re super stoked about the new music and also about the new path of the band. TFN will be a trio from now on.

“Dear Friends,
The last 11 years have been an incredible adventure. An adventure full of both great and difficult moments, filled with each possible emotion. These days, if you want to do something well, you need to put your heart and soul into it – that is why the band was always our top priority.
This has also been the case with me.
Until now.

My life has taken a different turn recently and I haven’t been fully committed to the band. This did l not feel right. I’ve always wanted to stay true to myself, my friends within our group and, most importantly, to You. I decided I needed to make a change. From an artistic point of view, I’ve achieved everything I have ever wanted to. I’s time for a multitude of new adventures life has in store for me.

I’m glad to have been able to be a part of such a unique project, alongside such unique people as Maciej, Przemek and Tomek. I know that the best is yet to come for this band and my departure will not affect its future in the least. Things will only get better and I’m really looking forward to their new album. Guys, it’s been an honour. Thank you so much.
For everything.

Dear listeners. I’m going to miss you. Thank you for all the good times and the memories I will treasure forever in my heart. My dreams came true thanks to You. You’ve created one happy and fulfilled man.

I’s time for something new. See you around!
Adam”

California based label Advanced Perspective has launched a full stream of the newest 7-tracker from MUSCLE BEFORE PARADISE, a post punk project from Mason Mercer, known for his work with Milwaukee’s FOCUSEDxMINDS and Springfield’s FREE AT LAST. We introduced the band on IDIOTEQ 2 years ago.

Mason Mercer used to sing for Free At Last, a straight-edge hardcore band from Springfield, Missouri. These days, he leads Muscle Before Paradise, a very different band. Muscle Before Paradise, which also includes Mason’s brother Chandler, are based in New York City, and they make heavy, intense, meditative postpunk. Mason says that the idea for the band came to him during a 2015 motorcycle trip across Vietnam, which is a pretty good origin story for a band.

Melodic post hardcore act SENSES FAIL are wasting no time in 2019 with the release of the music video for “Elevator To The Gallows.” The video shows members of the band entering a boot camp of sorts to win Demi Lovato’s love. The incredibly fun music video is a juxtaposition to the heavy subject matter of the song, diving into the feelings Lead Singer Buddy Nielsen was grappling with while his wife was facing extreme complications after the birth of their daughter, Penelope. Fans can check out the music video, below.

On the very fun video, the band shares the following note:

“We are all big fans of Demi. We’ve tried to @ her on Twitter but to no avail! So we took the logical next step and made a video devoted to winning her attention. Having personally struggled with addiction I know all too well what Demi has been through. We want her to know Senses Fail loves her and wishes her the very best!
Your best friends who you don’t know yet, Senses Fail.”

“Elevator To The Gallows” is the most recent single from the band’s 2018 release, If There Is Light, It Will Find You. Giving the band their strongest opening week in over a decade, the album secured the #1 spot on the Independent, Alternative, and Hard Music charts, as well as the #2 Rock, #7 Digital, #12 Current Albums, #25 Physical, and #57 on the Top 200. Heralding praise from outlets like Billboard, NYLON, Alternative Press, Loudwire and Substream Magazine as the band’s most honest and one of their best releases, If There Is Light, It Will Find You is available now on Spotify and Apple Music. Physical albums and merch bundles are available at sensesfail.com.

Grimoire Records presents Death Ritual, the debut full-length album by Maryland-based doom trio YATRA, streaming in its full glory below.

YATRA is a journey into mountainous sounds, transcending into the deep forests of primeval times. Born from the ashes of the Maryland doom band Blood Raven, the new three-piece emerged in 2017 as frontman Dana Helmuth’s new vehicle to embrace the darkness and doom. Confident in Maria Geisbert and Mike Tull as his new rhythm section, Helmuth’s inspiration was fueled exponentially.

“We had moved back to the country, into a small cottage in the woods, with no plumbing for the first three months we were there,” describes Helmuth. “We had an outhouse and outdoor shower. It was primitive, and it was during that time that I started writing all the material for Death Ritual. The solitude and the darkness of the night put me in a space of prolific writing and I wrote all eight songs in a month. We rehearsed three times a week and immediately started playing live shows regularly in Baltimore and New York City. We were able to channel that same darkness in the writing, also into our live shows, and the positive response was tremendous and really pushed us harder on our journey.”

In fact, “journey” is exactly what YATRA symbolizes. While traveling through Nepal and the Himalayas by motorcycle in 2013, Helmuth learned the native word “yatra” which means journey or pilgrimage, which he later recalled as the namesake of this new doom trio. The band’s eclectic sound combines the harsh, distorted vocal sounds of black metal over slow, heavy doom drones, fuzzed-out sludge riffs, and a tight rhythm section maintained by Maria Geisbert on bass and Mike Tull on drums. YATRA’s sound clearly conveys heavy worship and dedication to tone. Helmuth’s lyrics draw from fantasy and are influenced by the writings of Howard, Lovecraft, Auel, Tolkien, as well as many references to Norse mythology and Pagan ritual. No love or politics. Fans of Electric Wizard, Cough, and Sleep will find plenty to love in Death Ritual.

YATRA‘s full-length debut, Death Ritual was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Grimoire Records’ Noel Mueller in August of 2018. The artwork features four mixed-media pieces by Aki Pitkänen, layout by Mueller, and the hand-drawn logotype by Dana Helmuth.
