LA hardcore pack BERTHOLD CITY premiere new video “Walls Of Hate”

Los Angeles straightedge hardcore outfit BERTHOLD CITY, featuring members of Strife, World Be Free, Internal Affairs, Final Fight, One Choice, Allegiance, and more, has issued the first official video from their debut EP, Moment Of Truth. Directed by John “Eightclip” Jenkins, the new video for the politically-motivated “Walls Of Hate” sees its release through a premiere at Decibel Magazine.

“The clip at the beginning of the video was from a speech given by Robert F. Kennedy on the night Martin Luther King was assassinated. This video serves to remind us that the more things change, the more things stay the same… It’s 2018 and we still need to take a stand against racism and unchecked bigotry. Hatred, fear, animosity, and tension run rampant and the media pushes an agenda that further divides us.” Quoting the RFK speech he continues, “‘What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love and wisdom and compassion…’ These words ring as true now as when they were first spoken fifty years ago. It’s time to stand together, and it’s time to break down these walls of hate.”

“April 4, 1968 is undoubtedly one of the most important dates in American politics and civil rights. Martin Luther King Jr., a leader in the civil rights movement, was assassinated fifty years ago today. California hardcore outfit BERTHOLD CITY (featuring members of Strife and other hardcore bands) are thinking of Dr. King today, as they release the politically-charged video for ‘Walls Of Hate’.”

BERTHOLD CITY‘s Moment Of Truth 7″ was tracked by Aaron Jamili at Wormhole Studios and mastered by Don Fury, the NYHC legend who has worked with everyone from Gorilla Biscuits to Agnostic Front to Youth of Today. The 7″ includes three songs from the band’s demo, plus three additional cuts tracked during the same session.

BERTHOLD CITY kicks off their East Coast supporting Kill Your Idols and Fireburn tomorrow, April 5th, in Boston, followed by show in Brooklyn April 6th preceding their set at United Blood in Richmond April this Saturday, April 7th with Turnstile, Shark Attack, Ecostrike, Racetraitor, Trail of Lies, and more. The band will play Philadelphia on Sunday before heading home.

Formed in 2017 by Andrew Kline — guitarist for Strife and World Be Free and WAR Records owner – who here commands the mic, BERTHOLD CITY‘s lineup is rounded out by guitarists Dennis McDonald (Internal Affairs) and Devin Vale (Final Fight), drummer Adam Galindo (One Choice), and bassist John Eightclip (Allegiance). The straight edge band released a three-song demo last July and have been keeping busy playing shows with such bands as Terror, Judge, Decline, Regulate, Dare, and Fall Silent, among others. Written in the musical and lyrical spirit of the seminal Judge 7″, Kline wrote all the songs and recorded them with Galindo.

BERTHOLD CITY has also announced a new hometown show June 9th with Sick of it All, Murphy’s Law, and Countime, and a show June 21st in Santa Ana with Shelter. Watch for additional tour dates to be issued shortly.
