Leeds-based g]hardcore band Impale is set to make their mark with the release of their debut EP ‘Failstate‘ today, and we’re stoked to share their high energy, with a special track by track take on this interesting debut.
Despite having zero monthly listeners on Spotify until now, we’re confident that this EP will change their listenership. Drawing influences from Higher Power, Jesus Piece, and Knocked Loose, Impale has everything to leave a lasting impression on the local hardcore scene in Leeds.
The EP kicks off with the track ‘Failstate‘, utilizing repetition of the titular word to create a powerful impact, supported by intense riffs underneath. ‘Bury Us (6 Feet Deep)’, another standout track, tackles the subject of gun violence head-on, delivering hard-hitting lyrics from start to finish, culminating in a crushing breakdown.
‘Saw‘, featuring Bena Pietroni of Breating Below, starts off with a bass and drum-driven intro, quickly transitioning into a full-band assault with lightning-fast riffs that will undoubtedly keep listeners engaged. The final track, ‘Sleep‘, hits with a heavy opening riff that seamlessly transitions into emotional vocals, exploring the sleepless nights consumed by grief after losing someone close.
