This piece is being typed with a heavy heart that Lyon’s emo indie math rockers SPORT are calling it quits after 8 yearsof influential activity. The band have captivated audiences both here in Europe and all over the world with their special blend of alternative, punk rock infused, mathy and emotive rock. Today, ADAGIO830 records has announced the final release from SPORT, who just wrapped up their final European tour, with their final show in Berlin on July 27th. Their final chapter aka the 3xLP and 7″ contains all their releases in one package and can be pre-ordered HERE or HERE. The record is also available from Voice Of The Unheard records and GUERILLA ASSO.
Should we be sad to put an end to this ? I feel happy, filled with good memories, grateful for what we had. I’m sure the future will be kind to us. Until you hear from us again, be good and thanks for sharing all those good times with us. / SPORT
Bon Voyage 2014
In other news, be sure to check out MONPLAISIR (which contains members of SPORT) and their 1st full length (after a 12″)
Featuring Flo from Sport, my new favourite local band is called MONPLAISIR and you have to check them out. Influenced by la creme de la creme of the indie scene such as Sonic Youth, Unwound or more recently Solids, they will the new favourite band of every indie rock lover ! Not to mention that they’re all talented musicians and amazing guys who blew my mind live a couple times… so make yourself a favour and get that 12’’ now! / Echo Canyon Records
Sport are the kind of band that play upbeat jams about feeling down, and do so with a fun-loving conviction. They mesh the noodly guitar work of bands like Snowing and Algernon Cadwallader with the raw energy and catchiness of Spraynard and RVIVR. I cannot recommend this band enough. They click right from the get-go and would definitely appeal to a lot of people who frequent this blog. So don’t sleep on this any longer, grab these two indie-punk masterpieces. Without a doubt this is some of the best output the genre’s seen in the last few years, and I can never tire of giving them a listen. / SophiesFloorboard.blogspot.com
