Mongrel’s new single, “Wreckage In Our Path,” is two minutes of pure, unfiltered aggression—a tight collision of 90s death metal and hardcore, delivered with no excess, no filler.
From the first crushing riff, the track goes straight for the throat, shifting between unrelenting groove and raw, guttural fury. A screeching guitar solo rips through the chaos, layered over punishing breakdowns built to level any pit.
Lyrically, it’s about pushing forward through whatever’s in the way—fitting for a band that’s steadily building momentum with each release.
The single is a preview of Mongrel’s upcoming EP, set to drop February 21st via DAZE and HardLore Records.
The band recorded guitars and vocals with Taylor Young at The Pit, drums with Alex Jacobelli at Sunsick Studios, and had the whole thing mixed and mastered by Dan Swano at Unisound—names that speak for themselves in extreme music circles. No other details on the EP just yet, but if “Wreckage In Our Path” is any indication, expect something as heavy as it is direct.
Mongrel—made up of Conor Drury (vocals), Tristan Huarte (guitar), Miguel “Smiggy” Salazar (guitar), Andrew Kukta (bass), and Ryan “Face” Brooks (drums)—have shows lined up to match the intensity of their latest material. They’ll hit The Paramount in Los Angeles on February 1st with Gridiron and Big Ass Truck before heading to Las Vegas on February 22nd to play American Legion Post 8 alongside Never Ending Game and All Out War.
No unnecessary buildup, no extra words—just riffs, impact, and a wrecking-ball approach to hardcore-infused death metal.
