NJ hardcore band KIRKBY KISS tackle struggling with anxiety and depression in new video for “La Mierda”

1 min read

New Jersey socially conscious hardcore band KIRKBY KISS have released their debut LP on Council Records and today we’re giving it a proper nod with a special insight into craft and the opening single “La Mierda”, which reveals a band that has expanded their sound and  developed an emphatic voice that echoes emotions and often times social commentary about various struggles of the modern day era.

Kirkby Kiss is from the Jersey Shore and formed in November 2020. “We released 2 DIY CDs in 2021. Shortly after that, we connected with Matthias Weeks and made plans to give the songs a proper vinyl release, ushering in a new era for Council Records.” – comments the band.

“Our plans for 2022 include writing and playing as many shows, in as many states, as possible. In February, we will record 6 new songs, one of which will be for an upcoming 7” compilation also on Council Records.”

“It’s Gonna Cost You” is our new 10-song LP and it consists of 3 new songs and 7 previously self-released tracks (remastered for vinyl).

La Mierda was written about the way I feel when I’m struggling with anxiety and depression.” – says vocalist Natale Amato. “I know a lot of people have this same struggle and I wanted the
music to capture that feeling.

Adds Michael Shepherd, who’s also responsible for the artwork for the LP: “I made the video to reflect the isolation you can feel when you’re in the shit and I hope there’s some comfort in knowing you’re not alone.”

Vinyl is available for presale now at this location.

When I feel
myself question my sanity
how could I ever trust you
how could I trust myself
I feel myself losing
my grasp of reality
slipping and falling
into the depths
of anxiety
I can’t breathe
I can’t see
I can’t breathe
I can’t see
isn’t there any hope for me
