The quick and catchy pop-punk single, “Is this thing on?” from COOL MOON’s new full-length album, proves the band’s mettle as both vigorous alt punk rock and well balanced indie rock band, capable of delivering an ear-worm amalgam of melancholy and glee. Today, we have teamed up with the band to give you their new music video for the track (watch above) and give you some more details about their work.
COOL MOON has toured nationally and they have opened up for some great acts like Lemuria, Adult Mon, and War On Women. Their record release show on June 4 in Houston, Texas is a double release show with screamo royalty, Overo (Houston, TX) headlining and support from Upsetting (Dallas, TX) and Wish Kit (Denton, TX).
The event will host a raffle fundraiser for the Lilith Fund, whose mission is “ to provide financial assistance and emotional support while building community spaces for people who need abortions in Texas – unapologetically , with compassion and conviction.” “This cause is dear to us here in Texas as we watch progress get rolled back and people’s rights to their body and health stripped away.”
COOL MOON’s new video was directed by and features solely their guitarist Pete Wisniowski.
“The video playfully highlights the song’s subject matter, the fairly relatable topic of being ghosted.” – comments the band.
“It was initially meant as an outline for a video concept but once Pete shared it with the rest of us, we fell in love with how perfectly it captures the feeling of isolation and associated ups and downs. The lyrics came after writing multiple text messages over the course of few days to a friend and the paranoia I felt after not getting a response. The irony being that I often get messages I may not have a chance to respond to and/or forget to follow-up with. It’s a classic case of expecting more from others than myself. That said, I’m trying to be better about getting back to people!”
Cool Moon’s new album, “Crossing the Finish Line” is out on June 3 on Exotic Fever Records.
