Just in time for their US Southeast tour (see the dates below) and their upcoming European tour with CENTURIES, Texas based screamo act PORTRAYAL OF GUILT have released a new split with one of their favorite current artists, STREET SECTS, to be released oficially on March 2nd on 7″/digital via Hand Of Death Records (US) & Isolation Rec. (EU). There will be 4 different color vinyl variants for a pressing of 600 records (100 Transparent Yellow (portrayal of guilt Exclusive, 100 Transparent Purple (Street Sects Exclusive, 200 Black (Hand of Death Exclusive), 200 Coke Bottle Clear (Isolation Exclusive)) and you can already pre-order here or here. Revolver Magazine has just premiered both tracks, PORTRAYAL OF GUILT’s “The Nihilist” and STREET SECTS’ “In Contempt”, and you can hear them below!
Street Sects exploded onto the scene in 2013 after vocalist Leo Ashline emerged from the fog of a thirteen year battle with addiction and began collaborating with friend and multi-instrumentalist Shaun Ringsmuth. Disgusted with life but eager for catharsis, the duo embraced the experimental attitude and disillusionment of early industrial music pioneers, eschewing traditional rock music instrumentation and arrangement in favor of modern sampling technology and harsh electronics.
With the release of their self titled EP in 2017 portrayal of guilt quickly made theirselves a name enabling them to touring multiple States in the USA as well as Canada and having a full European tour scheduled for April this year. Not only were they able to create a solid fan base in a rather short time, also record label Deathwish Inc. came across the band from Texas when exclusively distributing the repress of said EP. Lacing their intense and emotional hardcore/punk sound with industrial and noise elements portrayal of guilt’s music isn’t quite generic either. “The Nihilist” was recorded by no one less than Matt Michel of legendary screamo band Majority Rule.
PORTRAYAL OF GUILT Southeast tour:
Bathing in the blackest sea.
Found asleep on the shore.
No second chance.
You sicken me.
No second thought.
No morality.
