Quebec City Hardcore band GET THE SHOT share “Divination of Doom” video

1 min read

Quebec City’s GET THE SHOT will release their new album Merciless Destruction, out October 7 via New Damage Records, and to tease it a bit the band has dropped the “Divination of Doom” video and you can watch it right here!

“‘Divination of Doom’ is the first song that was written for the new album,” the band explains. “It encompasses the multiple musical influences that now shape the band’s sound, from traditional hardcore to old school death metal and beatdown grooves. The music video features mainly live shots from our last tour across Quebec. This song is a primal anthem for the disillusioned youth trapped in a society built on oppression and injustice. German philosopher Theodor Adorno once asked if it was possible to live a good life in a bad life. To this, we answer from a pessimistic point of view; in this hopeless world, it’s violence day after day. So to this permanent state of war we have no choice but to oppose total resistance, even though we know death is the only way out of this mess.”

Merciless Destruction marks the awaited return of Get the Shot.

As with No Peace In Hell (2014) and Infinite Punishment (2017), the upcoming fourth album sees the band exploring new territories of extreme music, while sticking to its roots and its fierce DIY approach to music.

Following the thrash-influenced Infinite Punishment, Get the Shot incorporate death metal and beatdown elements on Merciless Destruction.

Over countless tours across the globe, the band has taken inspiration from many bands along the way and refined its sound, while also taking influence from some of the top-heavy artists such as Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, and Machine Head.

On Merciless Destruction, Get the Shot consolidate their independent approach despite a tedious and fraught recording process.

Hardcore community anchorage has never been greater, driven by a clear strategy, a group on top of their game, and unwavering dedication. After more than 500 concerts on three continents, including some on the biggest international stages such as Hellfest, Jera On Air, Summerbreeze, and Groezrock, the five members remain committed to the core values of authenticity, integrity, and equality at the heart of the hardcore movement, while addressing with disillusioned realism the flaws of an era defined by blind individualism.

The truth is what we get with Get the Shot: straight forward, no sugar-coating.

As brutal and cruel as reality can be, the ability to confront and overcome it depends on our ability to face it head-on.
