“Rat Cult” – grinding hardcore/metal act SPLIT/CROSS premiere new track!

1 min read

The dudes from Pennsylvania’s SPLIT/CROSS have been shouting against injustice through different extreme music endeavors, most notably through The Human Race Is Filth (sludgy crust/grind) and the now defunct Police State. Now, the trio is on the way to raise their voice a step further with the newly formed force. Hailing from South Central PA (Harrisburg & York PA), SPLIT/CROSS can possibly be described by the sound where hardcore meets pulverizing grindcore and crust punk with the razor-sharp d-beat touch and some dabs of heavy doom/sludge. Upon further inspection, an educated pair of ears will even discover the death and black metal influences in the music as well. The music delivers a torrent of aggressive moments, soaked in sardonic and depressive interludes.

Rise of Discontent”, the debut recording from SPLIT/CROSS will be released digitally through bandcamp only on January 31, and today we’re thrilled to give you their brooding new track “Rat Cult” a perfect foretaste of what to expect from the full record!

The song “Rat Cult” was the last song written for “Rise of Discontent”, about a week before hitting the studio. It’s basically about the disintegration of humans moral Integrity.

SPLIT/CROSS are: Paul Folk – Guitars (also of THRIF (The Human Race Is Filth), Exterminance, Police State, Bittered…), Kasey Harrison – Bass/Vocals (THRIF (The Human Race Is Filth), Police State, Bittered….), and Matt Bear – Drums (Police State). “Rise Of Discontent” was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Oblivion Studios in Upper Marlboro, MD in one day on December 1, 2018. Oblivion Studios has recorded many classic releases (Deceased/ Enemy Soil/ Pulling Teeth/ Pig destroyer to name a few).

Check out another new track from the record called ‘Blindspot’!
