Richmond noisemongers PRAYER GROUP (Reptilian Records) unleash thick riffed, anger fueled single “The Peak”

1 min read

PRAYER GROUP, a grinding noise rock unit from Richmond, VA are releasing their new album Michael Dose (an in-joke mispronunciation of the term “micro-dose”) on February 18th via Reptilian Records (Chat Pile, Pageninetynine), and today we’re stoked to give you a solid taste of their gritty craft through the first hearing of their song “The Peak”!

Having played alongside such contemporaries as USA Nails, Ken Mode, Multicult and Child Bite, PRAYER GROUP inject a hardcore punk brevity into their noise rock reinterpretations of the style, giving it a wild twist. An especially bombastic and caustic strain of noise rock. Listen for yourself.

Scathing vocals, off-kilter rhythms delivered with voluminous force and cathartic guitar tones are the hallmarks of Prayer Group.

Describing their sound, the label has said that comparisons to such noise touchstones such as Pissed Jeans and the Jesus Lizard are inevitable. However, they also mention that the group “also share sonic DNA with contemporaries like the experimental wailing thud of later Breather Resist, the unhinged depravity of Blacklisters, or the all-out thunderous rock assault of Buildings.”

Having released several EP’s (starting in 2015), the group has spread the gospel of the end times on recordings and also on tour. They have shared stages with such contemporaries as USA Nails, Multicult, Ken Mode and Child Bite.
