The Salt Lake City-based hardcore band Run Into The Sun has released the latest addition to their single series with Try/Hope. In this release, the band is looking to the future with two tracks, Try and Hope, following the emotional Love/Pain and political Cry/Blood.
Try is a punchy track that features infectious guitar lines and vocal contributions from Dan Fletcher and Billy French of Cherem, with lyrics about moving beyond negative thoughts.
The visual for Try includes tour photos from the past 20 years of SLCHC bands that the members have played in together and separately.
Fletcher explained that the inspiration for Try came from his realization that he was becoming jaded and nihilistic as he learned more about the world’s injustices and exploitation. He realized that he was choosing to react that way and that focusing on the negative was self-defeating.
Hope is a more melodic track featuring guest vocals from Charles Palleta of Snake Eyez. The band’s commitment to their local community is reflected in their lyrics, collaborations, and imagery, indicative of something more significant.
Fletcher expanded on the theme of Hope by explaining that making a positive impact on the world takes on greater importance when one has family members, friends, community members, and children who look to them for guidance. As a father, he hopes to instill hope in his sons and encourage them to choose light over darkness, especially when things feel most hopeless.
Run Into The Sun consists of Dan Fletcher on vocals, Matt Mascarenas on guitar, Chase Griffis on bass, and Drew Davenport on drums.
