Serbian metal/hardcore act BLANKFILE are celebrating their 12th year as a band with a new EP called “Truth Be Sold” EP, to be released later this month, and today we have their brand new single “#O4TF”, storming through a brief lyric video above! The production of their new joint is done by TBBH studio, who previously worked with Lionheart on Valley Of Death, The Ghost Inside on Returners, Parkway Drive on IRE, Revocation, and more awesome bands and records. Check out the above video by Scott Rudd Film and stay tuned for the full thing, comin’ at ya very soon!

Blankfile is a band form Belgrade, Serbia. Formed in 2008, from the ashes of previous incarnations of the band with the same name, they recorded a DIY EP titled “Fast Foreword” as an introduction to their new sound. Their second album titled “Turning the Season” was released in 2010. They promoted the album with a European tour. They released the single “Roadkill” in 2012, followed by two EPs – the eponymous “Blankfile” in 2013 and “We Are” in early 2016. Undergoing numerous lineup changes by this point, the bands sound evolved from the original hardcore punk style of the the early releases, into a full fledged metalcore direction, reminiscent of artists like the Architects, While She Sleeps and Parkway Drive. They released two more stand alone singles in 2018 titled “One is All” and “The End of Us”. In September of 2018 the band celebrated their 10 year anniversary with a special show in their hometown. The upcoming “Truth Be Sold” will present another upgrade of the band’s style, taking their game to the completely new level.

“Starting with the first kick up to the very last breakdown, the record will reveal things no one knew or didn’t want to know about us. What you heard with #O4TF is just the opening act, a lot more to come…and to digest.” – comments the band.

Asked about the meaning behind their new track, they offered: “You know… our whole, let’s call it career, we were trying to play nice, respect all and everyone, always making the best effort to contribute to the whole local scene. Now we felt it is the moment to focus on the ones really worth our efforts, so it is a kind of a farewell note to others. It is a manifest of the band’s new era or, at least, it will be its glorious end. Globally speaking – This world became cruel and heartless, so we are sure there are more boys and girls out there feeling the same way we are, so this one goes for them.”

Touring wise, the band states: “It is not feasible to make tour plans at this moment. On other hand, we have ideas and ambitions. Hopefully, the local and global restrictions will be a bit released soon enough, so we can put ambitions and plans together and finally book some live shows. Live shows is what this band is living for.”

Regarding their local music community in the midst of the pandemic, BLANKFILE states that “more than ever, the music society is going online. The 2020 lock-downs and restrictions push it even further, so some are already considering live online shows as a new normal. Even before the whole covid19 thing, we faced a strong trend of staying at home and choosing online interactions rather than going out and experiencing the real thing. I think that is a logical deliverable of the anxiety and apathy, two dominant social elements in Serbia these days. It is especially visible when it comes to the underground sub-culture which is on a social margin by design.

Make sure to check bands such as Violent Chapter, No Way Back, Brat, Suffering’s The Price, Mud Factory, latebloom, Forgotten Scream and Mind Prison. BHCU – Balkan Hardcore Unity, Piranha Studio, BTS-Breaking The Silence/Razbijanje Tišine, Black Dot production, Victims of Society are among the key references in your search for the diy music/culture society around here.

If you are into local webzines, try with Helly Cherry, Balkanrock, Liman Crew, Get On The Stage, PRIS and, of course, Wasted Attitude, a zine which is not local, but local people run it…

We can easily say that there are a lot more people and crews in Serbia, trying to contribute the local music and culture scene in their own way, but start with those above and see where it takes you…”

#O4TF Lyrics:

My Love only for the few
Who were there even when it hurts
My Love only for the few
Who were there even when it hurts

Ouch!

One love, nothing left to prove.
One love, only for the few,
One love, nothing left to prove.
One love, only for the few,
To hell with the rest of you!
