2 mins read

Today marks a significant milestone in the evolution of the enigmatic band, Sleep Token, as they launch their highly anticipated third studio album, Take Me Back to Eden. Released under the banner of Spinefarm, this album comes alongside a visualizer for the title track, the final installation in the album’s animated series.

With accolades like “an ambitious, emotional monolith of a record” (NME), and declarations such as “the most inventive metal has sounded in a long time” (Upset), “Take Me Back to Eden” has already captured the imagination of the music community and is poised to become a classic.

“The sonic rewards are plentiful” for those who allow themselves to dive deep into Sleep Token’s world, says Kerrang! Their latest work is being hailed as a magnificent odyssey, replete with profound musings on what it means to be human. This genre-defying work exhibits a breadth of tones, textures, and tangents, offering something for every discerning listener.

The album, part three of a trilogy, builds on the band’s signature sound established in their debut album “Sundowning”. It blends the heaviest moments yet seen from Sleep Token, notably in tracks “Vore” and “The Summoning”, with deeply emotional pieces like “Aqua Regia” and “DYWTYLM”. Sleep Token reaffirms its love for the grand and epic, notably in the title track that runs over eight minutes, ensuring that they continue to carve out their unique space in the music landscape.

Sleep Token’s success isn’t confined to the studio. The band is slated to support Slipknot in Hamburg and Berlin and will embark on a sold-out U.S. tour later this year, showcasing their ability to ignite a live audience.

Prelude tracks from “Take Me Back to Eden”, such as “Chokehold”, “The Summoning”, “Aqua Regia”, “Granite”, and “Vore” have already garnered over 85 million streams, with “The Summoning” contributing an impressive 38.8 million streams alone. The band’s popularity has even been acknowledged on social media platforms like Twitter, with the track trending and achieving the number one song spot on numerous international Spotify viral charts.

This tour de force isn’t going unnoticed; pop superstar Demi Lovato recently shared Sleep Token’s music with her 153 million Instagram followers. Even in the face of their unconventional stance of not speaking to the press, media outlets can’t resist the allure of Sleep Token. They are regularly touted as the most exciting band in metal right now (Metal Hammer), with NME noting their world is a place of escapism, offering fans a rich tapestry to explore and immerse themselves in.

The grandiose saga of Sleep Token continues to unfold with every release and performance. “Take Me Back to Eden” is more than an album; it’s a testament to their pioneering spirit, which continues to push and prod at the boundaries of music.
