The prolific punk-hardcore scene in Baltimore is bracing for a ferocious storm as the quartet, Tripper, steps into the spotlight, brandishing their unyielding rage and relentless energy. Today marks the announcement of their maiden EP, “People Die Every Day,” slated for a November 3rd release, coupled with the release of their lead single, “Pressed“.
The track is a fierce concoction of bouncy riffs and a vitriolic vocal exhibit by the band’s frontwoman, Alex Szydelska. Tripper’s sound, a visceral blend of hardcore ferocity and powerviolence, exhibits shades of influence from stalwarts like Converge and Punch, while resonating with the contemporary vigor of bands like Jivebomb and Gouge Away.
The EP’s recording journey traversed through the adept hands of Kevin Bernsten at Developing Nations, found its mix with Matt Redenbo, and received its finishing touch by James Plotkin.
The narrative of “Pressed” is a poignant reflection of Szydelska’s mental health voyage, particularly her skirmish with CPTSD.
The song encapsulates the grueling but empowering journey of returning to oneself amidst the seemingly endless storm of recovery. Though the essence of “Pressed” navigates through the murky waters of challenging emotions, the overarching narrative aims at being a beacon of empowerment and positivity.
The track is now available for a sonic rendezvous on Bandcamp and various streaming platforms.
Formed in 2022, Tripper has swiftly marked its territory in the hardcore scene.
Their stage journey began in May 2023, sharing the limelight with recognized acts like Loma Prieta, MSPAINT, and Alienator, a testament to their burgeoning prowess. The anticipation now builds towards their upcoming live renditions in Maryland this fall, culminating in an EP release gig on November 4th at Holy Frijoles in Baltimore.
